The Idealist Bulgarian Who Play to Entertain

I love Manchester United. Oh yes, I do. I love it since the year 1996, while Eric is still the king. I have many experiences with Manchester United. The one I remember the most is when they won a treble in 1999. Not just because they won a Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League title in one season, but also because in the night when they played Bayern Muenchen in the final match of UEFA Champions League at Nou Camp, I was just being circumcised the day before that. Yes, circumcised. I watched that match dramatically, whether it’s the match itself or the condition that I am in. When Sheringham and Solskjaer scored those two famous goals, I scream happily and also painfully.

Enough about the past, let’s talk about the present. A few days ago, Manchester United got what they always need since Ruud Van Nistelrooy left to a rich club in Spain, a pure striker. That pure striker name is Dimitar Berbatov. I am not saying that Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney, and Carlos Tevez are bad players, but they are not a real goal getter like Ruud does. With Berbatov, I am sure that Manchester United will get up from a bad start this season.

In an interview, Berbatov said that it is his dream to play for the red Manchester, to entertain the Manchester United fans. He also said that if he wants to play for money, he would play for Manchester City or Chelsea. Those two clubs are also interested in Berbatov and ready to pay a large sum of money for his service, even bigger than Manchester United’s. But Berbatov is the kind of player that is needed by the football world today. The idealist kind. He choose to follow his dream than to be so much richer without having his dream fulfilled. As a Manchester United fan, I was touched by his reason of why he choose Manchester United.

In the end, we just can hope that Berbatov can score many goals, create many wonderful plays, and bring trophies to Old Trafford. Cheers to the idealist Bulgarian!
